a new year is burdened with hope, and suspicion

this fabled record cover is a good analogy on hopes for this year to come.

leo, you were born the same year as my sister, phaedra. she has 2 kids too (right? two kids?).a boy and a girl. i have no idea what a 'dia' is. some type of instant photo, like a Polaroid? i love polariod pictures. they stopped making the film at the end of 08. i have several early cameras that still take beautiful pictures after 4 decades or more. i'm sure some people stock piled the film up, to sell on ebay at a honest fair price.

p.s. does Australia use a 24 hour clock?

there's no consistent approach, so we use both. i went out with a guy who worked for defence (as a civilian) and everything to him was x-hundred hours!

i hate that x-hundred.... even in a military setting. what's the point? why say zero 900 hours? just say 9am.
also, i have no idea how the 12 hour came about. i still have to do quick math with the later half of the 24 hour.
you guys use both? that's so weird. what does broadcast use?
hope ur well.

A "dia" is a photo that you can project on a screen or a white wall, I don't know the english name. And yep, I have two kids as well, boy and girl too.

leo, i always love your profile pics! we call dia's 'slides' or 'positives'. i do love the odd coloring of the early ones. i once found a box of dia's my dad took when he was a nine year old boy, they were pictures of box turtles.
