December's children

hello gang! what a crazy week, today is the first day i didn't wake up in a frenzy. TRAFOZSATSFM is out in a week and i am nervous about it. and also the deadline for Lis4L is also in a week and i've only received one song so far! but i'm trying not to worry too much... one thing at a time. jeffrey is recouping at home, i hope your feeling alright, sir. his email account sent me an automated response that said "i'll be getting my shoulder cut until dec. 1st" sounds painful, on the other hand(or other shoulder?) you have plenty of time to go through your record collection!

i was thinking that december may be a very busy time for everyone and perhaps we might want to take some time off for the holidays and regroup after? it's just one thought, let me know what you guys think.
happy thanksgiving jeffrey, everyone else... god bless you anyway. i hope everybody's well.

you must be getting very excited with the imminent release and show! i hope it's a great turn-out and you sell heaps. only wish i could be there.

i hope all is well in jeffrey-land as well - not to mention leo-land!

i am happy for a break (given that i am still working on November). i'll be travelling about anyway and january or february would be good start up months when it's quiet.

i've been thinking more about the 'listen to the end' choice and though i have a few that i can contribute, i fear my choice is a very predictable one (though for a non-predictable reason). problem is i know you all have the album so it's a bit of a waste. i might do a 'thesis' on that but find another album to send. with the event of the mp3 player i sadly find that the often one dodgy song on most albums can be avoided. it's making this choice that much harder, because when i think about it there are few albums that don't have one song worth skipping (at least that i own, and i'm not thinking far back in time at all). i read something about this recently, but can't remember where.

i'm totally fine with taking a breather and reconstitute in jan or feb.
i'm having a problem with beginning 2 end as well. the truth is there is an album that i always listen to it's entirety, and have for almost 10 years. and i only have it on vinyl and those bastards haven't fixed my vinyl to mp3 machine.
so, i'll tell you it's sparklehorse' 'it's a wonderful life'.
it might be my favorite record of all time. i'll have to think about that.
so, if i decide to buy it in mp3 format i could do it, unless you fella's already have it. the cd and the vinyl are different, so i used to have both, but i left most of my cd's in nyc by accident because i moved out in the middle of the night so i wouldn't have deal with my stupid roommates.
so, after that really long anecdote i guess i might have to find another album. what's the album you are referring to cydde? (horse stories is another start to finish for me, but again: vinyl).
i am up to my eyeballs in trafozsatsfm cds around here, i am very nervous and can't wait to hear the feedback from it. i'd like to hear what you guys think too. next week is when the reviews would be printed, if anyone does. well see! keep your fingers crossed (and also keep 'em crossed that i get more than one song for vol.9!).

Hi guys and girl,
all is fine in Leo land.
Today I'm working on that November swap. I guess it will go out on monday. I think it's a good idea to skip December. At least for the swap that is!
It could be that you all have my "from start to finish record" as well but it's burned just now so I'll send it out anyway. And no, it's not a Bonnie album.
I do have the Sparklehose album John.
Exciting times John, to get the TRAFOZSATSFM together, I have to place my order soon!
Cydde, you make me curious to what album you are referring!
The Superchunk CD came over well and again it's in my car stereo for a while now...(boring to say the same things every month but it's how it is).
Later!

hey there LEO! it is an exciting time here. it is also completely insane! i have no way to get around town, so all the CDs are still in my bedroom! tomorrow i may half to call for a couple cabs to take me around town and deliver. tomorrow is also the deadline for vol.9 and like every year i am a nervous wreck. today i found 5 cds sitting on my stoop! which makes the total 7. i usually have about 40-50 by now.
i'm glad you have that sparklehorse LP. i love it, and oddly i never really warmed up to the other records by him. but that LP is much like the superchunk 'foolish' album because it was written under special circumstances. 'foolish' was written when the singer lost the love of his life, and the sparklehorse LP was written right after the singer was paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. it's a crazy story really.
so i guess i can concentrate on other albums then.
guess what happened today? i got leo's package! i really thought it was lost for good! i hope all is well you guys!

well boys, i have decided to not burn my start-to-end album but i am going to include a 'do-it-yourself' set of directions and artwork for it. it might mean the package gets delayed a bit, but i had to think about it and this is what i've come up with. leo, i am very predictable so i need to make the event less so! perhaps i'll make it completely worthwhile and include an xmas present to see what you make of it!

i don't have the sparklehorse, so i might have to buy it given that those bastards haven't sorted out your record converter. have you come across my last compo in your stack yet?

good luck young john!!! my thoughts are with you and i'm sending the vibes across the astral plane...

wow, what a business John! Just keep on with going and good luck.
Glad my package arrived at the end, that really took a while.
Looking forward to your surprise package Cydde. And I think you're not predictable at all! Take care all of you.

cydde said...

well i can now say your packages are on their way, AND they've been sent from our national seat of power, parliament house.

nice work on all the trafozsatsfm and lifl efforts too john, you'll be in need of a much deserved rest (which i'm sure won't really come until after valentines). i can't wait to hear the whole ziggy album.

i might not get it until i'm back in the office - i am driving over to adelaide this saturday and back between xmas and new year. perhaps with mail traffic now anyway the packages won't be here until the new year.

i'm looking forward to devouring some more music!

ps. the picture has disappeared from the top banner!

johnking said...

how did the pic disappear? yikes, sorry! but i like all the new stuff now! i was actually looking for a little essay blog about a certain transmogrifying rock n' roll mum! i can't comment without weighing in all the evidence, theorems and theories! happy weekend!

johnking said...

damn. i got all excited about your appearance changes on the page and wanted to play with it too and ended up getting confused and messing things up. sorry, feel free to change it around again. i was playing with the colors and got really turned around. now the colors are all wacky.

cydde said...

you're hilarious john, the colours look fine to me! you probably improved it actually.

in adelaide now after the 12-hour drive. i didn't fall asleep once! hee hee. i have my fingers crossed that at least one or two of you might get your package before xmas - you'll have to tell me what you think.

i'll be making a trip to my favourite record store in town, big star. admittedly it has gone downhill in recent years, i think mostly with the advent of downloadable music. it's a shame, i don't care if i sound like a relic of the 90s (let alone a relic of older times for vinyl!).

cydde said...

oh and i meant to ask - who is the transmogrifying rock'n'roll mum?

johnking said...

hahaha. i keep waiting to hear your stance on boss hog's christina, before i post a 2 page rant. (the transmogrifier had a kid like 10 years ago, hardly an excuse) i really would like to know your feelings on the whole subject. being that the whole persona was of her own design. do you feel like she doesn't deserve any scrutiny? i finally got my packages out, i wanted to send yours to Adelaide but i didn't know if it would get there in time, or if i had the right addy. but when u get it, more music than u can stand. or music u can't stand. probably.
