how about "comfort records," the ones we go to when some girl has wrecked us or the blues have come down like a thunderstorm. for me, these are records that transcend everything. they're bigger than life.
or "most embarrassing record you love," which generally takes you back to grade school or teen years. candidates for me: "starcastle" (don't ask) or maybe rush's "2112."
this last one is a little more esoteric, but what about "records you can't help but listen to all the way through once you start it"? if i listen to the first track of richard buckner's "devotion and doubt," i ain't going anywhere for the next 35 minutes.

i'll back all three jeffrey. i especially like the esoteric last one! perhaps one month, given that they aren't 'compliations' as such, we could combine all three so do the three records as our contribution.
would the second one include 3embarrassing albums you once had but don't actually love, or does it have to be a guilty pleasure? actually, i have one for both occasions!
can we put this three-disc combo up as the next set month (making it november, is it?)
Doing it as a set would work for. Easy enough and lots of music for everyone.

hey guys, sorry for my low inbring lately but I run behind with everything and also with this. I have trouble getting back into real life after holidays so it seems. Being back at work and the kids to school, I have to pick up things like this as well but I find it hard to do. So I dragged my ass overhere to check out what's going on. I still have to think what I will contribute to this months theme. John thanks for the informative e-mail. I finally sent an e-mail to Kaori this evening.
On the theme thing, maybe it has been said somewhere, but do you have songs or records that you love so much that you don't want to play them too much, being afraid that they might lose their beauty.
wow leo, that's a tough one that i'll have to think about. i might be able to think of some that i've done that to, where i did play them too much and they seemed to lose something. then again maybe it's all mood based anyway, and i'll rediscover the loveliness down the track.
i'm opposite. i totally get stuck on a song or album and will play it over and over. iv'e had co-workers threaten violence if i didn't take a song off repeat.
usually those records i will go back to at times over the years.
Yeah well, in the end I think they are all records I play a lot. But maybe I take good care of when I play them. Sounds more logic I guess.
