about cd swap
the international music swap is a club of music enthusists from around the globe who share their love for music. each month we send copies of our CD choice to the club members. it can be a whole album, a compilation, really anything you want... (many times we have themes or swap ideas) and return you get a bunch of music each month that you might never have heard before. also it's a chance to meet like minded people, and maybe even pen pals!
we try to send cds out before the last 10 days of the month (since we are sending around the world, we want to get them there in the month we are swaping). basicly just make copies of your monthly cd for everyone who has signed up for that month and send them out, it's that easy! we hope you'll be into it!

for one, that piece of art is bloody freaky and amazing, go the death of the cassette tape (which i have to admit i still have including a device to play them).
and nice work on the article jeffrey and john, good plug. it's funny, the last song mentioned (bonnie and clyde) was one that my first bf put on a mix cd. you'll find one of the others on the mix on its way for october.
i told the GS band that i wanted the 'moonage' track to have a gainsburg feel too it, like j'tm, and despite no one knowing his work i think they did a good job. bonnie and clyde is one of my favs from comic strips.
the article reminds me a lot of our existential talk about mixes, and my mix cds conveying my ever changing feelings about my ex. i guess it shows that it may not just be the format (although cassette is best in my heart) it also is more for the maker (or at least as much) as the receiver. and in my case i dont send my mixes a lot of the time, and they still help me sort out my 'mixed' emotions (couldn't help myself with that double entendre)!
i'm going to start the conversation now about the november swap and ideas - maybe going back to some of jeffrey's ideas in earlier posts? like the guilty pleasures one?

i finally got your package today! wsan't there talk of putting 3 ideas of jeffrey's together? 3 full album themes. remind me again what that was.
i still haven't got october together. i bought the vinyl converter specifically for oct, so i could put together a collage of high skool 7'' songs (when i was in skool gf and bf gave each other 7''s to say how they felt, the way i guess they did in the 50's. i remember not listening to 'i think we're alone now' because it was the first 7'' a guy gave my high skool gf). but since i haven't gotten it straightened out with the manufacturer yet, i'll do that mix later, maybe for an x-mass swap. i still have plenty of 'crush' songs from cds to work with. i like to micro analyze themes anyway obviously. (cydde i like your 'high skool crush in your 20's' theory. i could totally do a mix in that theme too!). and i am so so so happy to have 'all the nations' back again! a top 10 'from start to finish' album for sure!
damn- it's so good to hear archer's and reminisce! ass. at x-mass eve is so cleaver and oddly sad! and chumming the oceans (i always hated the name but love the song! maybe my favorite track on it! also i think i love the title 'the bones of her hands' better than the actual song) i am a sucker for piano of corse! I THINK HE'S IN TROUBLE! THE WATER IS RED!

it's strange to think you associated this with that crap genre of 'alice in chains' i have a disdain for that genre (tool, bush, the whole early 90's west coast seatle crap). but i also gave nothing a chance if i connected it to that genre anyway so i understand. i see this band more connected to the music movement like the breeders, crain, superchunk, jawbox, iu, jawbreaker (early nineties east coast) but i'm sure it's different being in another country trying to keep track of micro genres.
i am so excited about all of these cds! i do think i do like the magnolia(i never noticed i called it wrong, but your right) cd a little better than songs:ohia (this is purely first listen observation) at least i can relate to songs like "hard to love a man" and "the dark don't hide it"(already added them to my latest cora emotion cd). thanks cydde! i really like whole album trades, yet i like mixes too. i guess i'm just excited to be able to soak in lots of great music! so yeah lets work up november, perhaps the 3 album thing? dang, i forgot the theme names.. i've been so distracted lately here at home...
